In the Competitive Business section of Competitive Surrey we visit one of the many local bespoke and contemporary Art, Crafts and Design businesses which we are so lucky to have right here in Furst Ditton and Cranton Green.
This month we visit Ethereal Clay based in Furst Ditton and we talk to its creative force Clarice Filibuster.
We discover Clarice in her ‘conceptual sanctum’ located discretely on the ground floor behind Elizabeth Wendell-Green Interiors on Furst Ditton High Street.
Clarice is currently working on her Ethereal Essentials collection, which includes her ‘celebrated’ porcelain litter trays for gratified cats and retails at a very accommodating £175 for a 16” tray or £245 for the more appropriately sized 24”.
“Darling! Delighted to see you!” she exclaims as I enter the room.
I ask Clarice about her craft and her latest work to which she responds effusively: “I bring my ceramics into this world, drawing greatly on my past experience as a marketing manager in the Hotel and Leisure industry”.
Like so many contemporary ceramic artists, Clarice’s career in marketing gave her the confidence and inspiration to start her craft-based company.
Clarice also shares her ethos with us: “A life without ceramics has no style or substance” she effuses.
Clarice clearly has a talent for tapping into the zeitgeist and needs of today’s Surrey elite, with other popular Ethereal Essentials ceramic products including:
- Bone China Car air-fresheners (£45)
- Ceramic Memory Sticks (£60)
- Earthenware Golf Club Covers (£75 per cover)
We suspect that her forthcoming range of Ceramic SatNav Holders (£190) will prove to be in equally high demand and we wish Clarice every success.
You can find Ethereal Clay at 37a High Street, Furst Ditton, Surrey.
